According to the original scheme of the Government of India, 250 consumer clubs were established in the state in the first phase with the assistance of the Government of India from the year 2005-06. This scheme of the Government of India was for 2 (two) years. The objective of establishing consumer clubs in the state was to promote consumer awareness through schools and colleges.
As of the year 2023-24, a total of 2384 consumer clubs have been made operational, with 1983 consumer clubs at the school level and 401 consumer clubs at the college level.
