Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in the State of Gujarat Was established on 8th November, 1965 as a separate department. This Department handles the following operations.
This Department Assumes the Responsibility of Implementing the Following Laws.
Subordinate head of the Food and civil supplies Consumer Affair Department for the work of matters assigned to this department;
This State-Level Office is Supervising the Matters Related to Supply, Procurement and Distribution of Essential Commodities Covered Under Public Distribution System and Essential Commodities ACT. When at the District Level District Supply Officers And Mamlatdarshi at Taluka Level Supply Related Work Such as Ration Card Issue, Appointment of Fair Price Shoppers And Make Them Monthly Route of Volume Issue, Distribution operation under Public Distribution System Etc ..
For the purpose of strengthening the public distribution system in the state of Gujarat, the Gujarat Government has replaced the Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. on the last day of 10-10. Corporation has got Godau in most of the talukas of the state for the purpose of procurement, storage, quality control, transport and handling, distributing quantity of essential commodities to the fair price shoppers for the distribution of public distribution system.

Revision Application in Disputes against Punitive Orders
The applicant can file revision application against the punitive orders passed by the Appellate Authority before the State Government in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. Such revision application shall be made to the State Government within 30 days from the date of receipt of the order regarding final disposal of the appeal. In case of a revision application received out of time, if reasonable and specific reasons are found, the State Government may file such revision application out of time by recording such reasons in writing and condoning the delay.
Appeal Application
The applicant/organization aggrieved by the decision of the authorized authority for sanctioning a fair price shop may file an appeal application before the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department of the State Government within 30 days of the decision of the authorized authority approving the fair price shop.
Black Market Prevention and Maintenance of Essential Commodities Supply Act 1980 The state government has started implementation since March -1980. The objective of this scheme is to prevent the activities of the people of the society, such as the inadequate conflicts and hazardous activities, which are essential to the society in the maintenance and supply of essential commodities. Subject to the provisions of the Directive Act, its implementation is done by the state government and officials authorized under law. The detention orders made under the Pre-Act Act include the use of various essential commodities such as edible oils, cereals, petroleum products (kerosene and crude oil), cooking gas, sugar, wheat and rice, to prevent the immediate activities of differentiated irregularities. Detention orders are made under this Act.
