To ensure that eligible beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS) receive their entitled quantity of commodities easily, the State Government has periodically made changes to the PDS as per contemporary requirements. As part of these efforts, the digitized ration card scheme has been introduced from the financial year 2024-25. A digitized ration card, also known as a smart ration card, is durable and can be preserved for a longer duration. This initiative will save paper and stationery. Applicants will receive their smart ration cards via speed post at home, and they will also have the option to download updated smart ration cards from the official website from any location, resulting in significant savings of time and money for beneficiaries.
The SMART (QR Code/e-sign-based) Ration Card will facilitate easier verification of ration cards and enable quick authentication of their validity.
