Consumer Protection organisations

A centre for resolving consumer complaints is functioning through the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission and the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act 2019. However, true protection of consumer interests is only possible when consumers are made aware of their rights. For this, consumer education has an important place. Through the Consumer Helpline, they can get immediate guidance on their questions. But consumer protection organisations play a very important role in providing guidance, advice and suggestions to consumers at the local level. The state government also provides financial assistance to consumer protection organisations as an incentive for all these activities.

rganizations working for the protection of consumers' interests are given recognition and financial assistance by the government to carry out consumer activities. At present, a total of 56 consumer protection organisations have been recognized in the state. For these organizations to carry out their activities well, the government has approved financial assistance of Rs. 75,000/- to taluka level organizations, Rs. 1,00,000/- to district level organizations and Rs. 1,25,000/- to district level organizations in the area of ​​six municipal corporations. A decision has been taken to establish at least one organisations at each district level. Thus, the state government is determined to make consumer activity popular by covering the entire region. In the last three years, a total of 26 organisations have been given financial assistance of Rs. 22,19,170/- in 2018-19, a total of 30 organisations have been given financial assistance of Rs. 24,93,604/- in the year 2019-20 and a total of 32 organisations have been given financial assistance of Rs. 25,43,055/- in the year 2020-21.
